Salt Spring Island is a Rare Treasure

It was explored by the Spanish and British in the 1700s and was settled in the 1850s. The island's name comes from a series of fourteen briny springs at the island's north end. Its major communities include Ganges, Fulford and Vesuvius. Salt Spring Island has much to offer including many recreational activities from sailing, sea kayaking, hiking, countryside touring, golf, tennis and fishing. Local merchants are known for their artwork, and annual events and festivals that attract world-class performers.
