With its sumptuous gardens, casually elegant accommodations, and refined service, Hastings House Country Hotel is one of the most idyllic wedding locations in BC.

 With Salt Spring Island as a backdrop, the choice of distinctive indoor and outdoor wedding venues allows Hastings House to host small intimate wedding parties for two in the scented flower gardens, or grand events for 60 guests on the lawns.

Our expert on-site wedding planner will help each couple create their dream wedding. We skillfully coordinate all aspects from licenses and commissioners, to florists, musicians and photographers. The inspired cuisine at Hastings House will charm guests with its fresh, local ingredients. The Hastings House wedding packages can be customized depending on the size of the wedding party. 

Catering

The culinary team at Hastings House, led by Swiss-trained Executive Chef Marcel Kauer, will create special menus for every aspect of your wedding celebrations. From a casual buffet for the rehearsal dinner, to an extravagant multi-course dinner in the Verandah, dazzling with candlelight and flowers, every event will be memorable. Each dish will delight your senses, with artful presentation, tantalizing aromas, and mouthwatering tastes. With Salt Spring's abundance of fresh organic produce, seafood, handmade cheeses, lamb and poultry, and an award-winning wine cellar, your wedding feast will be perfect in every way.

Venues

Outdoor options include the rustic private Summerhouse on the Point (built from beach wood in the 1920’s by the Rowan family as a playhouse for their two girls); the vine-covered Wishing Well, scented Flower Gardens, shady Orchard, the Lower Patio or rolling Front Lawns overlooking the harbour. Indoor options include the Verandah or Somerset (a Premier Suite), both with spectacular harbour views.

With a take-over of the entire property, receptions for up to 60 on the front lawns take advantage of the breathtaking views of the harbour. Larger receptions may require rented tents, tables and chairs.

The couple must obtain a Marriage License from the government office on a non-holiday weekday. No previous residency in Canada is required; both traditional and same-sex marriages are permitted. Only one member of the couple is required to apply for the license, with identification for both. One of two marriage commissioners (similar to a justice of the peace) on the island will perform the civil ceremony.
